The Mutton Birds.

We’re now getting into more of the music that I like that I haven’t already introduced to you. Let’s take a few steps back in time now to when grunge was becoming king. Naturally, every nation needed their own version of the Seattle scene. New Zealand got The Mutton Birds.

The Mutton Birds were carved out of several Auckland bands. They put out nine albums over their thirteen active years, and scored some success overseas, particularly in the United Kingdom.

The really awesome song is from 1992: “Dominion Road.” This is one of the north-south avenues in Auckland that has been widened into a major artery. Stretches of Dominion Road used to be fairly bleak (not K Road bad, more like empty bad).
