Holy smokes, I Live in New Zealand.

The Dance Exponents / The Exponents.

Further to yesterday, the #2 ultimate New Zealand bar song is the quintessential happy-go-lucky mid-’90s song that I would have had a guilty pleasure forever classic play-to-death song to this day kind of thing.  Ewwww, that was self-indulgently long winded.

The Exponents went through two incarnations.  The Christchurchers were originally The Dance Exponents but then their lead singer died and there was some soul searching and the requisite move away from New Zealand.  I presume they will be best known for this barroom anthem, “Why Does Love Do This To Me?”

The Dance Exponents’ big hit was the simple yet elegant (in that post-punk sort of way) “Victoria.”

(What, is there something wrong with guilty pleasure music?)
