As you won’t know, episode 1204 of South Park is entitled “Canada on Strike.” It parodies the Writer’s Guild of America strike.

There’s a running gag through the episode. Somebody turned it into this music video.

You do know you can now view whole episodes online at the revamped South Park Studios, right?

Love them, love them, love them. I have a great story about my Mom sheepishly shopping for “Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law” and “The Brak Show” DVDs one Christmas.

Anyways, so I was folding laundry tonight when episode 9 of season 19 of The Simpsons came on (entitled, “Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind”) which features a parody of Youtube sensation “Noah Takes A Photo of Himself Every Day for 6 Years.” It is Homer’s life flashing before his eyes, a wonderful piece called “A Picture a Day for 39 Years.”

The best quality copy I can find is at JibJab…for some reason…

For those interested, the other video mentioned at the end of the flashback sequence is called, “Kitten Smokes on Toilet.”

Also of note: they are just about to finish up airing the second season of the US version of The Office here.

A Rainy Day in Auckland.

It is quite rainy and windy today in Auckland.

Highlight thus far: my curtains getting sucked out my apartment windows. Oh, how they fluttered against the greasy stucco exterior of my building. How they fluttered…

Non-New Zealand Post

I was doing some time killing reading on Australia (to distract me from holiday planning, of all things) and discovered that there was a proposal in 1838 to create states for Australia following lines a little different from those in use today.

One of those states, encompassing most of today’s New South Wales and Victoria, was to be called Guelphia.  Seriously.  It’s on Wikipedia; it must therefore be true.

How cool would have that been?  Also note that there is no “New Barrie,” “Barria” or “Barea” there.

I’ll do a proper “Ask a Canuck” question later.
